Congratulations to our Director of Data and Research, Mrs. Andrea Dale

Congratulations to our Director of Data and Research, Mrs. Andrea Dale, who was invited to share her data expertise for the second consecutive year with administrators and data experts from across the Valley. She presented on the subject proficiency and how it is calculated for the state letter grade. She provided information on the components included in the calculation, along with the multipliers for students scoring partially proficient, proficient, and highly proficient. She prepared by reviewing the state accountability business rules and reviewing the static file to identify the information that would provide the attendees with the most impactful knowledge.

Significant takeaways for participants:

  • The multiplier for students scoring partially proficient and higher is not applied to students identified as recently arrived English learners.
  • Nor are the scores for these students included in the school’s proficiency score.
  • The total number of students tested factors into each school’s proficiency scores.

We are very fortunate to have Mrs. Dale on our staff, ensuring that our administrators receive accurate data and helping them understand the complex letter grade formulas!
