Head Start Preschool

Why Head Start?
Head Start promotes school readiness for three- to five-year-old children of low-income families. It offers educational, nutritional, health, social, and other services. Head Start programs promote school readiness to enrolled children and their families by enhancing children’s social and cognitive development through providing educational, health, nutritional, social, and other services.

Early Head Start
Early Head Start (EHS) supports infants, toddlers, pregnant women, and their families. EHS programs enhance children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development; assist pregnant women in accessing comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care; support parents’ efforts to fulfill their parental roles; and help parents achieve self-sufficiency. Together, Head Start and Early Head Start have served tens of millions of low-income children and their families.

Parents Are Important
Our Head Start program actively engages parents in their children’s learning and helps them progress toward their educational, literacy, and employment goals. We place significant emphasis on the involvement of parents in the administration of our program.
