ART. ASK FOR MORE.

Throughout every school year, schools in our district receive gifts from various organizations and individuals. We wish to acknowledge and thank those who have supported our students.

Capitol Gateway Kiwanis presented a dictionary to every Fowler third grade student during 2005-06, thanks to the coordination of Mr. Bob Kay. Each dictionary had the student’s name on it. The Kiwanis Club has already begun work on this project for 2006-07.

Employees of Salt River Project have been long-time supporters of our Christmas Angels program. Each year, they are responsible for hundreds of “adoptions” during the Christmas season. As part of their Christmas generosity, SRP also donates money to be used for the purchase of school clothing for our students. SRP also is very generous during the Thanksgiving season.

The Wal-Mart store on Lower Buckeye Road has been very generous to the Fowler School District . Mrs. Lucile DeSomma has been our liaison with the Wal-Mart Corporation, and has coordinated a number of projects, including Christmas Angels and food at Thanksgiving, which made the holidays brighter for needy families. Wal-Mart has also helped with the purchase of student uniforms.

For the past several school years, the Rodel Foundation has sponsored a math achievement club for students in our district. The program began with the third grade and was expanded to fourth the following year. We are now able to offer it to some of our second grade students as well. Each month, students receive a new math work booklet to complete at home. The superintendent, Dr. Math Wizard, visits each classroom mid-month and encourages the students to complete the book before the end of that month. Grade level assemblies are held at each site; each class with 100% completion receives a treat and a prize. This enrichment program is tied to the improved math scores on standardized tests.

All students of the Fowler School District are required to wear uniforms to school; this can sometimes present a financial hardship for some of our families. Over the last several years, we have been extremely fortunate to receive donations earmarked for student uniforms.

Our benefactors include:

  • The Virginia G. Piper Foundation
  • St. Vincent de Paul  Society
  • The Bagnall Company
  • The Wal-Mart Corporation
  • Salt River Project

Students model their new uniforms.

Lucille DeSomma is presented with a plaque honoring her contributions to FESD.
